Privacy Notice
Last updated: 27 August 2026
1. Who we are
RoadGuard is provided by Innocent Chidziva, who is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice.
2. Data we collect and why
- Account data — email address, display name and sign-in credentials, used to create and secure your account (legal basis: contract performance).
- Location data — your device's GPS position while you use the app, used to show nearby cameras and alerts (legal basis: contract performance / legitimate interests). Location is processed to provide the service and is not sold.
- Driver reports — hazard, mobile camera and police sightings you submit, with coordinates, used to power the live driver network (legal basis: legitimate interests).
- Usage and device data — app interactions, device identifiers and IP address, used for security, fraud prevention and product improvement (legal basis: legitimate interests).
- Support messages — correspondence when you contact us (legal basis: legitimate interests).
Payment details are collected and processed by Paddle (see below); we never see or store your full card number.
3. Who we share data with
- Service providers — hosting, database, authentication and analytics providers acting on our instructions.
- Paddle — our Merchant of Record, which processes sales, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
- Professional advisers — legal and accounting, where needed.
- Authorities — where required by law.
4. International transfers
Some providers process data outside the UK/EEA. Where they do, transfers are protected by adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
5. Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above — account data while your account is active, driver reports until they expire, and billing records as required by tax law. Data is deleted or anonymised when no longer needed.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. We respond to requests within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
7. Security
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your data.
8. Cookies
The app uses essential cookies/local storage only (for sign-in sessions). We do not use marketing or advertising cookies.
9. Contact
To exercise your rights or ask a privacy question, contact us via the support details in the app's Settings screen.
